About the event
Our colleague Srikesh Rudrapatna is organizing a panel discussion for newly graduated (and soon-to-be graduated) physiotherapists to discuss what you need to know about starting your practice. Joelle and Julia are among the panelists, as well as our colleague Taran Ohson from Ohson Athletics. We'll also have our accounting team there to answer all questions financial - from what you need to consider if you're an independent contractor, to how to maximize your tax savings. Check out Srikesh's event description below:
Leaving University to enter the Workforce is challenging in it's own right. Perhaps the biggest challenge I had to overcome as a "New Grad" was bridging the gap between my theoretical knowledge (special tests, rehab protocols etc.) and the practical execution of my assessment and treatment techniques. With almost every new assessment, I felt a strong pressure to give a "perfect" diagnosis, and believed I "Failed" if my patient still had pain! Here is where self-doubt, negative self-talk, and anxiety settled in and created a lot of uncertainty around my professional career. Things got a bit more complicated when I realized my financial obligations skyrocketed; repaying student loans, saving the right amount for taxes, paying rent, and all the other costs of just plain "Adulting".
Join me in a discussion with my mentors as we cover the "New Grad journey into Private Practice". We will explore topics such as:
• What it means to "build a caseload"
• What to consider when deciding on a place to work
• What's the difference between being a contractor or an employee
• How to decide what courses to take
• How to manage stress, anxiety and burnout
• Much more!
